Dementia Action Week 2024
Dementia Action Week is an awareness raising campaign where individuals and organisations across the borough are encouraged to 'act on dementia'. This year’s event will take place from 13 May 2024 to 19 May 2024 with events across the borough.

Cake Bake Sale and Information Stall
The Alzheimer's Society, together with Whipps Nurses and Staff, will be running a stall offering a selection of delicious cakes and a selection of information leaflets.
When: 9am to 12 noon

Free Virtual Dementia Experience
A series of three virtual reality dementia experience sessions within a minibus provided by Training2Care and funded by BM Care, supported by the Intensive Dementia Outreach Service.
Each session has lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes. The first 1 hour and 45 minutes will allow up to 12 attendees to experience the simulation in groups of four people.
Each group will then wait in the Town Hall while the remaining attendees experience the simulation. Refreshments will be provided during this time
A final 45 minute debriefing will be held within the Town Hall.

Free Dementia Friendly Tour of the Mingei - Art Without Heroes exhibition
The William Morris Gallery would like to invite people affected by dementia to a ticket-only curator-led tour of this exciting new exhibition.

Free Cost of Living and Digital Inclusion Drop-in Session
Morgan Sindall will be running an information stall at the Dementia Hub in Leyton to help people access online services and to save money during the cost-of-living crisis.

Free Waltham Forest Memory Service Drop-in Session
Staff from the Waltham Forest Memory Service will be running a drop-in session for people to find out more about the service and ask any questions they may have.

Free How to Live with Dementia Seminar for Carers
This session is aimed at supporting loved ones affected by dementia, through understanding and interpreting behaviours of distress, and information on person centred care planning. It is delivered by BM Care and refreshments will be available.

Free Gentle Exercise Session with Sport for Confidence
An Occupational Therapist-led gentle physical activity opportunity for people who face barriers to participation. The session promises to be fun, accessible, and tailored to individual needs and goals. Refreshments will be provided by Greenwich Leisure Limited.

Grey Matter Film Showing
A screening of Director Arabella Burfitt-Dons’s new acclaimed film that explores the impact an Alzheimer’s diagnosis can have on a family. Have a view of the YouTube trailer
